VNL Selection Procedure 2027 Trials : 

Championship Coaches: Leesa Gallard, Stacey Gannon

23U Coaches: Stacey West, Lindy Dowell

Reserves Coach: Penny Forrest

Trial Venue All trials will be at the Boroondara Sports Complex, Belmore Rd, North Balwyn
Definition VNL Players Netball Vic has advised that the term VNL player includes Championship, 23U, Reserves (19U teams).
Selection Options
  1. August 13: Activation of EOI and Player Profile forms permitted
  2. August 17 - 19 : Re-signing of current Boroondara Express VNL players
  3. August 20: Open recruitment of any VNL player (before trials)
  4. August 20: Championship EOI required
  5. September 21: Screening for non-VNL  players 
  6. September 28: Main trial for 23U and 19U Reserves +invited
  7. October 1: Final trial for 19U (& 23U if not finalised)
Eligibility
  • Age: born 2011 & before (16 as at 31/12/2027)
Teams to be selected
  • Championship = 15 players
  • 23&Under = 15 players
  • VNL Reserves = 12 players 
RE-SIGNING current EXPRESS players
  • Date August 17 - 19
  • Coaches will re-offer some players a definite position for 2027
SIGNING of ANY VNL PLAYER
  • From Thursday, August 20th 
  • Open recruitment 
  • Note: before trials so based on Champ EOI & 23U / Reserves VNL Player Profile Form (below) 

CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM

  • 2026 signed VNL players from any club
  • Any player with 2026 High Performance experience 
  • Submit an Championship Expression of Interest Form : closes August 20
  • If not a current VNL player, you will need to submit video footage with your EOI
  • Successful Champ players will be asked to sign from Sunday, August 20th based on experience and club needs
  • If unsuccessful & you wish to still be considered for 23U, you will need to submit a VNL Player Profile form (below) & attend 23U trials

SCREENING: for all non VNL players
  • Submit a Screening Player Profile Form : closing September 6 
  • Note: Current VNL Reserves players (not signed) playing in the official Tuesday VNL Reserves Competition, are exempt from screening.
  • Date: Monday, September 21st, 5.30 - 8.00pm, court 2
  • If successful, you will be invited back to trial for the 23U / 19U Reserves teams (below)

NO non-VNL player may bypass the screening process *

School Holidays * We are aware that NV Recruitment timeline falls in the September school holidays where families may have pre-booked holidays. If you are unable to attend your trial for this reason, please complete the relevant section in the Screening Player Profile form and we will make arrangements to assess you privately or at our final trial on Oct 1.

23U & RESERVES TEAMS

 
  • Submit a VNL Player Profile Form  CLOSING 5pm, September 16  (please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if late entry to assess eligibility)

MAIN TRIAL:  Monday, September 28th, 5.30 - 8.00pm, court 2

  • For any current signed VNL players trialling for 23U / reserves
  • For current VNL reserves players playing in the official Tuesday VNL Reserves competition
  • For players invited back after Champ EOIs
  • For players invited back from the Screening Trial (above)

FINAL TRIAL Thursday, October 1st, 5.30 - 8.00pm, court 1

  • For players invited back for 19U (Reserves team) and 23U if not already finalised

  • Selections for Boroondara EXPRESS Victorian Netball League are held annually at the Boroondara Sports Complex, Belmore Rd, Nth Balwyn.
  • Selections are OPEN to any player from the community wishing to trial and of eligible age.
  • Applicants must submit an on-line Player Profile Form by the due date
  • Applicants must attend all relevant VNL trials unless otherwise advised
  • Players wishing to be assessed for a position in our Boroondara Express Victorian Netball League Squad at any time after the selections, must submit a Player Profile Form and may be invited to be assessed at a training session at the discretion of the Head Coach and Committee.
  • Players may be added to the selected lists at any time at the discretion of the Head Coach and Committee.
